Personal Lines Account Manager - Springfield and Bloomington, IL.

 Personal Lines Account Manager Position Overview:

  • Coordinates the processing of new and renewal personal lines business, including the review and assessment of client coverage proposals and packages for adequacy, completeness, and accuracy.
  • Provides guidance, assistance, and follow-up in all aspects of customer service requests from management, producers, or clients.

 Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  •  Conducts detailed reviews of new and renewal policies for accuracy in rating, coverage, completeness, and signatures; coordinates electronic input of transactions, orders policy changes and cancellations; and ensures documents are delivered/mailed to appropriate parties.
  • Prepares marketing information including coverage and costing comparisons, risk and loss analysis, or rating differences from carrier underwriting and marketing information files for use by producers and clients.  If licensed, may sell existing client’s additional or expanded coverage, as well as amended policies, upon request.
  • Prepares quotations for producers and clients, and assists producers in answering questions about policy applications and likelihood of acceptance.
  • Maintains extensive contact in person, by phone and mail (electronic/postal), with carriers, producers, clients, and regulatory agencies to facilitate appropriate and comprehensive product customer service.
  • Maintains electronic and/or paper files in an orderly, timely manner.  Contributes to a suspense system to ensure follow-up on outstanding or pending business matters.
  • Prepares/requests insurance documents including binders, certificates, property schedules, and identification cards.
  • Performs special projects at management’s request.

 Required Skills and Education:

  • Ability to be highly organized, yet flexible in dealing with shifting priorities, fluctuating workloads, and evolving procedures.
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, and enjoy working with people in a high volume customer service environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex industry documents such as policy limitations, underwriting standards, and procedure/policy manuals, and apply within prescribed routines and practices.
  • Ability to thoroughly analyze product information, and make timely and practical recommendations to managers, producers, and clients.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision, while maintaining positive staff relationships within a team work environment.
  • Must demonstrate competence in computer and office equipment operations, while experience with Windows applications such as Microsoft Excel and Word, and the Internet are highly desirable.
  • Must be able to secure and maintain insurance licensure, at company expense, if applicable.
  • Must be a High School graduate or GED, while advanced training at the technical, business, or college level is highly desired.
  • Would prefer 3 years prior work experience in the insurance industry or a related field
